Since 2008, MSRP has been providing mini-grants to fishing organizations in southern California to fund Fishing Outreach Programs for youth. So far, MSRP has been able to reach almost 10,000 kids through this program including showing them how to fish, providing education on fish contamination, and promoting safe fishing practices.

We continue to expand our outreach efforts each year to the fishing community by participating in several community fishing events and partnering with new organizations. This summer, MSRP is participating in three fishing-related events including:

Fisherman’s Appreciation Day, Venice Pier, Venice, CA

Kid’s Fishing Rodeo, Belmont Pier, Long Beach, CA

Youth Fishing Derby, Seal Beach Pier, Seal Beach, CA

We also sponsored the Los Angeles Rod & Reel Club’s Annual Kid’s Fishing Trip in early July this year which took 200 kids fishing on boats chartered from Long Beach Harbor. The LA Rod & Reel Club provides free rods, reels, boat access, and food to the kids that participate in this event. We are always looking for ways to expand this program. Any thoughts?
